About TheGayCalendar.com

TheGayCalendar.com is a community-sourced calendar for LGBTQ events—built to make it easy to find what’s happening, and to help organizers share events without Facebook or Instagram.

We want event information to be as up to date as possible, easy to find, and easy to share. Events submitted here are meant to be discoverable by search engines and LLMs—so they won’t get locked up in a walled garden.

This site is focused on events first: when and where it happens. If there’s a ticket link, it’s optional—because a calendar shouldn’t feel like a ticket marketplace.

What we’re building

  • A simple, searchable place to discover LGBTQ community events
  • A way for the community to submit and improve event listings
  • An alternative to Facebook/Instagram event sharing
  • A clean separation between event info and ticketing platforms

FAQ

Who’s behind TheGayCalendar.com?
TheGayCalendar.com is maintained by John Spaetzel and assisted by volunteers who help contribute to and moderate submissions from the community. The site is self-funded and built with love for the LGBTQ community. Ads do help cover costs, but we try to keep them minimal and unobtrusive.
How do I submit a new event?
Sign in, then use the “submit an event” form from your account.
Do events need a ticket link?
No. Ticket links are optional. We prioritize the basics: what it is, when it happens, and where.
Can I place an Ad on TheGayCalendar.com for my business?
Certainly! You can inquire about advertising opportunities by reaching out to us via email or WhatsApp. We can offer various ad placements on the site to help promote LGBTQ-friendly businesses and events.
How does the calendar stay updated?
We use a modern mix of community submission & review as well as generative AI tools. If you spot something wrong, please submit an edit (preferably) or message us via WhatsApp or Email so we can fix it.
Can I suggest edits to an existing listing?
Yes. If you find an event page with incorrect info, submit an edit, and we’ll review it. Small fixes (time, location, links) are especially helpful.
Can I import an event from a URL or flyer image?
Often, yes. The submission form supports importing from some event URLs, and can also prefill details from a pasted banner image—then you can review and submit. This feature utilizes AI to help extract event details and makes submission easier.
What regions are available?
We show events by region to keep listings relevant. Regions are defined by metropolitan areas (e.g., San Francisco Bay Area, New York City) rather than entire states or countries, to better focus on regional communities. You can switch regions from the region dropdown (top of the site), or set your default region in your account settings.
How do I delete my data?

To request that your data be deleted, please email [email protected] from the email address associated with your account, or login and delete your account instantly from the account settings page.

What are points?
Points are a simple way to reward community members who help keep event listings accurate and up to date. You earn points by submitting new events and suggesting edits that get approved. It’s our way of saying thanks for helping out! They don’t have any monetary value, but they do show your contribution to the community and may unlock certain site features in the future.
